During her studies Anika was supported by the Markel Foundation. In 2006 she won first prize Concours d’Ufam in Paris, and prizes at the Kitarika competition in Koper, Slovenia and the Karl Scheit Competition in Vienna. <\/p>\n

In May 2010 she was awarded the Hermann and Milena Ebel Award for outstanding young musicians. Anika Hutschreuther plays classical guitar at the highest level and gives concerts as a soloist and in chamber music at guitar festivals and concert series. Her repertoire includes all facets of the classical guitar music, from the sophisticated baroque music of Johann Sebastian Bach to Spanish Fandangos and Zapateados to the wonderful tangos of Astor Piazzolla. <\/p>\n

Anika’s current program is entitled \u201cEs ist ein Schnitter…\u201d (There is a reaper…). It is a program full of songs that have accompanied the musician throughout her life. These include well-known German folk songs such as \u201cKommt ein Vogel geflogen\u201d (A bird is flying) and \u201cDat du min Leevsten b\u00fcst\u201d (You are my dearest), as well as lesser-known songs such as \u201cKraut und R\u00fcben\u201d (Cabbage and turnips), and \u201cEs ist ein Schnitter\u201d (There is a reaper). Anika’s extensive repertoire is also evident in her renditions of music by Tracy Chapman and the Rolling Stones on the classical guitar. All the pieces have been arranged for solo guitar in her own unique style, using a wide variety of techniques and styles, sometimes baroque, sometimes classical variations, or more modern in fingerstyle or samba. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Anika Hutschreuther has been one of Germany’s outstanding classical guitarists for many years. Anika studied at the universities of fine arts in Stuttgart, Kassel and Hamburg, Germany, where she completed her concert exam in 2010 with distinction.
