Danish pianist and composer Søren Bebe is one of the distinctive voices in contemporary European jazz. His music combines a Scandinavian sound aesthetic with remarkable melodic clarity, meditative calm, and subtle grooves, often drawing comparisons to artists such as Tord Gustavsen and the late Esbjörn Svensson.

At the heart of his artistic work is the Søren Bebe Trio, which he founded in 2007. Together with Danish bassist Kasper Tagel and Norwegian drummer Knut Finsrud, Bebe has developed a distinctive musical language: atmospheric and understated, yet intense and rich in narrative depth.

Rather than focusing on displays of virtuosity, the music thrives on the interplay between the three musicians. Melodies are given room to unfold, silence becomes part of the music, and subtle rhythmic impulses create unexpected arcs of tension. The result is jazz that is immediately accessible while continuing to reveal new details with every listen.

Over the past several years, the Søren Bebe Trio has established a reputation far beyond Scandinavia. International appearances have included the London Jazz Festival, South by Southwest (SXSW) in the United States, the Hong Kong Jazz Festival, the Jarasum Jazz Festival in South Korea, Jazz au Chellah in Morocco, and SESC São Paulo in Brazil.

The trio’s music has also found a substantial international audience online, generating more than one million plays per month across streaming platforms and appearing on major jazz playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.

2027 marks a major milestone: the Søren Bebe Trio celebrates its 20th anniversary and will release its tenth studio album in January.

The new recording continues the artistic development of recent years. Here Now (2023) received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for a Danish Music Award. It was followed in 2026 by Gratitude, an album that captures the trio’s distinctive aesthetic particularly well.

Mike Gates of UK Vibe described Gratitude as an exceptionally poised and beautifully understated album whose quiet approach leaves a lasting impression, awarding it five out of five stars. German critic Jochen König wrote:

“One of the most beautiful acoustic jazz works of the year.”

With the new album, the trio opens another chapter in its story. The music looks back on two decades of artistic development while also looking ahead—to new musical directions and encounters.

The release will be accompanied by concerts across Europe, bringing the trio’s signature intimate sound to the stage.
