


With the charango, Alejandro focuses on showcasing the repertoire of the Peruvian charango tradition. Additionally, he also plays the hatun charango, and he has explored other genres of music by arranging solo pieces of Jazz standards, Bach pieces, and his own compositions.
In the US, Alejandro has given charango lectures and concerts at New York University, University of California Riverside, Rutgers University, and the National Music Museum. In Europe, Alejandro has played at festivals, museums and other institutions in Austria, Italy, and Germany
With the guitar, Alejandro plays with Afro-Peruvian Jazz band Forbidden Tropics. Forbidden Tropics blends Afro-Peruvian rhythms such as Festejo, Lando, Zamacueca, and Panalivio with sophisticated harmonic elements of Jazz. He has released an EP in 2019, and an album on 2022. He will be releasing a new album in 2026. Forbidden Tropics headlined the Middlesex County Jazz Festival in 2023, played a concert at William Paterson University, and has played at many festivals in the New York City Metropolitan area.
