It evokes the Andes, Buenos Aires, and Santiago through rich timbral colors and rhythmic vitality.
The duo has performed at renowned festivals and concert series in Germany and Chile. Rooted in Chile and Germany—and musically at home across continents—Elún creates music that resists easy categorization. Their repertoire moves between Andean melodies, rhythmic influences from Brazil and Argentina, and original compositions, unfolding somewhere between folklore and European chamber music, driven by curiosity and a strong sense of musical dialogue.
Valentina and Christian met in 2011 in Santiago de Chile during their university studies and have been working closely together musically since 2021. Both later completed master’s degrees in music in Dresden and Leipzig, forming a shared artistic foundation that continues to shape their work today.
The sound of Elún is defined by an unusual and expressive instrumentation: the deep resonance of the double bass, the bright and agile voice of the charango, and the colorful expressiveness of the classical guitar. These elements come together in constantly shifting textures, at times groove-driven, at times intimate, often surprising.
Valentina Solis has worked with renowned orchestras, including the Dresdner Philharmonie and the Staatsoperette Dresden. Christian Leonardo Zack is a multiple prizewinner of international competitions and an award-winning guitarist, recognized for his distinctive artistic voice.
The name Elún was taken from the Mapuche language and means “to give.” It reflects who they are both as people and as musicians on stage—an attitude of trust, exchange, and shared energy. Duo Elún is currently working on its debut album, scheduled for release in 2026.
