The idea of the duo lingered since their high-school days and became official as their paths later reconverged with a fresh purpose. Since 2022, they have performed at festivals and concert stages across Croatia and Germany. As Guitar Duo Stojaković-Čižmek, they have dedicated the past several years to researching and promoting female composers through original transcriptions and newly commissioned works, contributing to a more inclusive and contemporary approach to the classical guitar duo repertoire.
Alongside this focus, they also perform a range of other duo pieces that reflect their broad musical interests, such as a recital consisting entirely of music from Spain – the cradle of classical guitar.
Their signature project, Life of Flowers, features a transcription of a piano cycle by Dora Pejačević—one of Croatia’s first prominent female composers and a leading figure of early 20th-century music—along with a newly composed hommage by Canadian guitarist and composer Dale Kavanagh. The project was awarded a scholarship, and was recorded in collaboration with D’Addario and the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts.
Since 2024, the duo has held the title of D’Addario Artists. As such, they continue to perform, explore, and expand the guitar duo repertoire.
