After focusing for many years on acoustic guitar in small ensembles, Peter Autschbach reunited in 2021 with Nico Deppisch and Jan Melnik for joint sessions, during which he returned to the electric guitar — an instrument he had used until 2010 in hundreds of concerts and studio recordings with his band Terminal A. The name TA2 can be seen as a continuation of Terminal A, but in a completely different form, made especially distinctive by the inclusion of violinist Marta Danilkovich, who hails from Belarus.
Autschbach initially composed nine pieces for TA2, which were recorded in video format in the following months and released on YouTube. Together with percussionist José Cortijo, TA2 performed their first public concert on August 6, 2022. For their fall 2023 tour with 20 concerts throughout Germany, TA2 began collaborating with drummer Jordan Proffer from Dallas, Texas.
In December 2023, TA2 received five awards at the 41st German Rock and Pop Awards: “Best Fusion-Jazz-Rock Band,” “Best Fusion-Jazz-Rock Album,” “Best Fusion-Jazz-Rock Song” (Welcome Marta), “Best Drummer” (Jan Melnik), and “Best Guitarist” (Peter Autschbach).
With TA2, Peter Autschbach presents his sonic explorations through musical landscapes in a distinctive group sound. His compositions showcase a wide variety of tonal colors and musical imagery. The virtuosic violin playing of Marta Danilkovich gives TA2 a strong and instantly recognizable character. The specialist magazine Guitar wrote: “With clean unison runs between guitar and violin, complex drum solos (Jan Melnik), and punchy electric bass (Nico Deppisch), Autschbach’s new band impresses with incredible musicianship and freshness.”
