Peter Autschbach is a German guitarist, composer, and music teacher and one of the most versatile guitarists in Germany. After teaching himself to play, he studied jazz at Cologne University of Music and Dance, graduating with honors in 1990. Prior to that, he had already taken lessons from jazz legend Joe Pass in 1988/89.
For ten years, Peter was the guitarist in over 1,000 performances of Pete Townshend’s rock opera Tommy. This was followed by appearances in musicals such as Cabaret, West Side Story, and We Will Rock You. With his band Terminal A, he has been touring international jazz festivals since 1998 and regularly works with renowned musicians such as Barbara Dennerlein, Philip Catherine, and Joscho Stephan.
Since 2009, he has been performing in a duo with Samira Saygili, and since 2010 also with Ralf Illenberger. In 2022, he founded the TA2 quartet, whose pieces he composes himself. Since 2025, Peter Autschbach has been sharing his knowledge via his own e-learning platform for jazz guitar.
In his current solo program “Reflections,” Peter presents his latest album of the same name, which was inspired by many concert tours that, among other places, took him to Japan in 2025. Even in the Land of the Rising Sun, people love the sophisticated style and rich tonal language of the guitarist from the city of Siegen in Germany. The music is complexly arranged, full of unexpected twists and turns, and has a pleasant groove. With elegant solo phrasing and fascinating dynamics, chords and melodies merge into guitar pieces of high pictorial charisma. In some songs, Peter also presents himself as an expressive singer. Overall, he offers a technically demanding crossover between fingerstyle, Latin, and groove, which is presented in an extremely entertaining way with spontaneity and playful wit.
