


Elodie is known for her expressive musicianship, evocative writing, and a career that bridges European classical tradition and the vibrant musical worlds of Brazil and Latin America. Born in Caracas to a Bolivian mother and French father, she studied at the Boulogne-Billancourt and Strasbourg Conservatories, graduating with highest honors before pursuing masterclasses and studies in South American music culture.
After moving to Rio de Janeiro in 2008, she spent more than a decade immersed in the city’s rich musical landscape, developing a personal artistic language shaped by classical technique, Brazilian harmonic and rhythmic sensibilities, and contemporary aesthetics. She performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with leading artists and appearing at major festivals and concert series.
Elodie is a sought-after composer whose works span solo guitar, chamber ensembles, orchestra, and opera. Her commissions include the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, FUNARTE/UFRJ, the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Guitar Foundation of America, and the Santo André Symphony Orchestra. Her opera Homens de Papel premiered in 2022 to critical acclaim, marking the theater’s first commissioned opera since its founding.
An accomplished orchestrator and arranger, Elodie has collaborated with artists such as Yamandu Costa, Susana Baca, and Berta Rojas, among others, with performances in iconic halls including Salle Pleyel and La Philharmonie de Paris.
Her recent recordings include Caravana do Amanhã (2022), Luares (2023), and Helping Hands with Yamandu Costa (2024). She also worked as a an artistic director of the Guitar by Masters online platform during the pandemic and founded the Novas Contest to support new guitar repertoire.
Elodie Bouny currently lives in Lisbon and continues to perform, compose, and mentor new generations of musicians, contributing a uniquely lyrical and border-crossing voice to the contemporary guitar scene.
